Re: WANT TO BUY A REAR END FOR A RACO JAC-RABBIT

still interested?

I need one as well, planning on CNC Milling one out of aluminum as my previous plastic gearbox melted itself to pieces!

If you want, I can make a second one, but I will need the guts from yours, unless you want to assemble yourself.

Re: Raco Jac Rabbit Sprint spoiler

Decided to re-visit the construction of the spoilers.
Any further advice, pictures? What material should it be made out of, what was correct from the factory?

Raco Jac Rabbit Sprint spoiler

Hey guys, I have a Jac Rabbit in the middle of restoration. Since mine came with the sprint style body shell (the big cowl popping up in the center), I've decided to make a scale spoiler for the top and nose. I'm sure somebody has done this before, so instead of trying to figure out all of the dimen...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

Finally started her up to test the clutch setup. Everything is working great. The fan cover mounts seemed to support the engine enough to stop the original squeaking noise I mentioned- turns out it was the clutch grinding on the clutch bell at a weird angle. Nylon spacers and washers under the engin...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

Thanks for the links.

Clutch replaced tonight. Everything has been remounted on the chassis except for the gear case. I need a new steering servo horn and a battery charger (maybe a new TX/RX), and then I'll be all set to go.

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

Hey guys, here's an update: I bought and installed the new fan cover- the engine is all set to go. I bought a clutch, but I'm still waiting on a piston stopper to replace it. I disassembled the front shock towers- they are not bent and I don't need new ones. The chrome bar in between the towers (the...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

I believe I may have found my answers... http://csgbenefits.org/mgt/Clutch.htm I thought that a higher rpm clutch would keep the model from moving while idling - turns out that was b/c of the clutch damage (pardon my obvious inexperience  ). I think better acceleration on the low end from a hig...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

Just read an article on clutch springs... seems like higher rpm means more "snap", or response.
vwguru75- Why limit myself to a 7000rpm spring? Is that what this engine works best with? Thanks

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

Hey guys- I've held off on the Raco for a week or so now b/c I fixed my nitro at long last. Now that it's in pieces again, I can keep working on the Jac-Rabbit :-P I'd like to order the FlySky off of hobbypartz but it seems like its always out of stock. Not sure if I should keep waiting or pay the e...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

Yea, I though so :| However, on the bright side, I got my new steering servos today - Futaba S3303s. And, I discovered that my old Futaba FP-S134 Throttle servo isn't fried. I thought it was before, but I guess that's $50 less that I need to spend :D Current shopping list goes as follows: Front shoc...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

I'm going to give them a call on Monday. I'll order the new front shock towers at the same time. vwguru75- awesome explanation, your hypothesis was correct. The input shaft is moving fine, but I'll look into the bearing and add that to the shopping list. Thanks for all of your help so far guys, you'...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

Just took off the clutch bell... I think we've found part of the problem. The entire plastic casing behind the clutch bell is badly melted. If tightened completely down, the bell actually scrapes the deformed plastic. I'll assume it's time for a new clutch and plastics when the site offers them. For...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

Those mounts seem to have been broken off- take a look at the large holes in the plastic. Any suggestions for how I can repair that? The clutch bell moves back and forth a little bit (+/- 1mm) but I suspect that is for tolerance. I took a shot of taking apart the gear case. I couldn't get the front ...

Re: New guy- RACO Jack Rabbit Restoration and Issues

There are no bolts holding the engine to the chassis. All of the engine's weight is being held by the bolts of the clutch coupling, which go through the shock tower and then bolt into the gear case. Also, nothing is bolting the the gear case down- currently, it's only screwed into the shock tower. B...
