Re: Gilmer project - complete re build going electric

First test run of the engine. Notice the voltmeter move when the ignition is turned on.
The bleeping is the electronics starting up.
I need to "tune" the engine sound to the throttle response.
But otherwise it is very loud.

1/4 scale seats for Gilmer midget and cars in general

I am motivated to make a leather seat for my electric Gilmer after seeing rc garage berlin beautiful finished leather seat on his Gilmer. Im not sure if I will be able to make such a good job but there are resources out there for studded seats like this one. f-88-min.jpg I would love to hear your op...

Re: How to finish a gilmer midget racer

Thanks for the reply. What would your opinion be on using studs like the one shown below? There is info on the internet on how to do this. Mainly for very old racing cars where they raced in style!
But I can't find any midget that had studed seats.

Re: Gilmer project - complete re build going electric

Yes, I guess you could. They are aluminum so relatively soft. I think I would buy some stock bar first and experiment on that first.

Re: How to finish a gilmer midget racer

Hello Michael I have almost finished my electric Gilmer (you can find the build here - http://www.quarterscalelegends.com/bb/v ... =18&t=5642 And just think your leather seat is fantastic. I have no skills at leather stitching but am a willing learner if you would share how you did it. I can see...

Re: Gilmer project - complete re build going electric

Now that I know the car is going to run I dismantled back to the chassis and carefully reassembled, the rear end first. All the bearings were locktit in place. BTW I had some old stands that I modified to fit the axels of the Gilmer - really useful at this stage of assembly - it was like building a ...

Re: Gilmer project - complete re build going electric

Hi Emilio I modified the hubs. I had to machine the end with 4 flats square, and drill 4 threaded holes to hold the disks in place. The depth is important just a little deeper than the thickness of the disk so when they are fitted they "float" and dont bind in the calipers. 20200524_072352...

Re: Gilmer project - complete re build going electric

I need some brakes as well. I bought a set of hydraulic brakes from eBay - pretty good quality. Im only going to fit them on the rear wheels. 20200524_072409.jpg I machined the hubs (using small hobby milling machine)to fit the square profile of the disks. And drilled and tapped 4 holes for screws t...
