Re: Gilmer project - complete re build going electric

I too love the brass and steel combination. Did you modified the original Gilmer hubs or are they built from scratch?, I like the allen head screws going from the back fasten to rims with nuts. Would you mind taking it all apart to show more in depth of the hub system and what exactly was done?

Re: Daytona Coupe 1/4 scale project.

Hey folks, going back on this project very soon, ordered a new blue paint and going to redo the body again. Plus with the 3D printer I did'nt have when I started this project I'll be able to make all the little air scopes and possible headlight buckets and interior. Stay tuned. Hope you enjoy :)

Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version

Hey folks hope you don't get tired of my mini updates? I added the roll bar and pinstriping to the side panels across Team Lotus, the Firestone tire decals are delayed :( Next as mentioned will be the dampers on the front axel. The wood under the car is to keep it raised to prevent tire out of round...

Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version

Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version

Thank you Lovedr and Kaye, I wanted to add dampers on the front axle from the get go but couldn't find them, Going through some stuff I luckly found them, going to drill and tap them into the axle and metal bulkhead. This will add to the detail and be functional at the same time, purely my opinion. 🙂

Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version

Thank you Kaye, I finished about 99% of this build, still have the driver to paint, roll bars and rear stabilizer bar, I also want to make a nice mahogany stand to place it on, but it can wait. This build had it's challenging moments but is was a joy for me to accomplish. Hope you enjoy. :)

Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version

Hey folks, received my custom nose decal today and put in place. Was going to start assembling the car but it's way to hot and humid in the garage, I'll save it for a cooler day or evening. If anyone is wondering about the front suspension, this consists of 2 insulators mounted to the axle which wor...

Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version

Hey folks, hope everyone is doing well. Finally got some good weather and time from yard chores and was able to paint my Lotus 49. Going to wait a week or so before I give a light compound and wax and then apply the decals. Next I need to find wheels, the ones I used to test are from my Daytona coup...

Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version

Thanks Mike; We had one day where the weather was great for painting and I was able to complete all the yellow areas. Now need to wait a few days to cure fully to apply the masking for the green areas and then the decals. :)
