Slingshot Dragster Rear Section

Post by M.R. Ogle »

This was a project that was started about 16 months ago, but due to some bad chemistry, the old mold for this body got destroyed. However, we were able to salvage one very "rough" body from the project, so I got the chance to have a "do-over", LOL!

This is the new plug... it's actually a bit nicer than the first attempt, anyway. You usually do get better at doing something the second time around. Just chasing down small pinholes and flaws in it right now.

Anyway, if anyone's needing a "fancy "Tom Hanna" style slingshot dragster body, this should be available soon.

Looks good Mike. I remember posting a pic (rear view) of this one on the old site. Is this the type of car you're doing?

Actually, I'm not building a slingshot, at least not right now. I just made the body because I knew that a few other people were working on nostalgia dragsters at the time.

Kinda like THIS one: http://www.cacklefest.com/Assassin.shtml

How good is that? But now Im confused...you say you're not building a slingshot..but the post is called slingshot Dragster rear section. Did I miss something, or is it just a typo thing? :?

Let me specify...

I have built a slingshot style rear body section master for LRU to make available for production.

However, I currently have no plans to construct a slingshot dragster chassis for this body personally. I just wanted to make the body, as I knew there were people out there who could use it.

OK, no worries! How's your funnycar going these days? Still chugging along, or is there a mod in the works?

I'm just collecting parts and pieces for a next project. Don't know EXACTLY what to make yet, but I've got some ideas.

Waiting for either inspiration or technology to hit.

Inspiration part is easy
Step 1: open bottle
Step 2: Tip contents of bottle into mouth, and consume.
Repeat steps 1&2 until the light bulb appears over your head :D

It's not Mike... it's the subcontractor who does all the glasswork who operates on his own "timetable".

Yea, i retired from doing fiberglass. Too many weekends lost just to mess up a part that was not sellable and the ones i sold were barely sellable as is. Went to the pro's and never looked back. Its worth losing money on the deal not to have to deal with them!!!

I will do my best to get this one on the top of the list. It has been a ongoing saga for too long!!
