Jac-Rabbit Total Rebuild Photos..Lots of Polish and Chrome.

Post by Venomusss »

I am rebuilding one of my Jac-Rabbits from ground up. I have not started the assembly yet as the parts are taking forever to finish. Here are photos of some of the parts that are ready for assembly. Right now I am working on polishing the Aluminum Rear Arms... lots of tiny spaces will take some time. Enjoy the pics.

Very nice! The polished aluminum is awesome. Did you do it on a wheel or electro polish?

The polishing was done using a wheel and a Dremel.

Ok, It seems to be taking forever to get the Rear Trailing Arms polished. Since they are die cast, the surfaces are much rougher and the deep pockets are extremely difficult to get at.
I had all the outside edged polished and then began working on all the pockets. Here are some photos. One Arm has the pockets sanded and is getting closer to being ready for polish and the other Arm has nothing done in the pockets.
Anyone with tips on getting in those hard to reach spots would be appreciated........ :D

I NEVER EVER WANT TO POLISH ANOTHER SET OF THE ABOVE ALUMINUM REAR ARMS!!!!!!!
I had taken a break for a while from polishing these. They are very hard get all the surfaces sanded smooth and then polish in all those little areas.
They are much further along than my last photos. Hopefully soon I will be able to post finished photos.
And to think I was going to attempt polishing the cylinder head on the engine..............

When I sold the car I asked the question "why"
The next guy who bought it didn't give two hoots about the shiney suspension.
Sometimes it's best to balance out a "decent" finish which you can live with and just let the "obsessive" finish go.

Still, they do look shiney Venomusss. Good job.

Here are before and after pics of a rear end cover. First I used a Soda Blaster and cleaned off the old paint. Then sanded down and then polished.

Hows the Build coming? POST MORE PICS!!!!! I feel ya on the trailing arms I started to polish mine on my GN but it was way more work then I wanted to tackle so the quick fix, POWDER COAT :D :D :D :D :D :D I had em bead blasted then took em to the Powder Coaters. what I leaned is like a fine paint job the work is in the prep, same with powder coating if you want a real good looking durable powder coat job, have the parts sand or bead blasted then clean the heck out of em with denatured alcohol then take it to them. Yea its alot of trouble running around and more of a cost but the finish product is AWSOME . Post them pics :D :D :D :D
