Excellent work so far.
Myself, here in Sweden, have some big problems. Don't know if I will start with the Escort from Finland, or the Yankee Jaguar.....
I also have started restoring a vintage gas pump from 1927.
And renovating the garage...

i think you should keep them too. Keeps it looking stock. Kinda like the cage was a bolt on option. I think thats cool to keep it looking like the factory did it. I would try to raise the cage though.

I think the chassis looks terrific with the added cage and without the side pods!! Very nice!
