FuNkY,
You're probably right! This was the 1st attempt. I'll worry about that as I get closer to the end of the build!

This past week has seen a grill and and a radiator being constructed. Not sure about the grill... :?

However, the radiator seems to be OK. Not sure if the Gilmer has a radiator cap that can be removed... mine can!!!!!

Mike,
The state of the Jewellery trade down here at present, I reckon puts me in the 'or something' category...however... I'm having a truck load of fun working on the midget.

well, its looking great!!! Very nice.

on a side note, post office is still messing with me on that lost package. So if you see a postman driving a pacesetter sprint around, kick his ass for me.

This week saw my version of the dog box come together. From what photos I have this is the result. Not sure if the lever moves on a Gilmer....mine does...

Funky,
Would that then be......."Projects in progress of projects in progress"..
I'm lucky that my profession is a crossover to model making. The tools in my workshop are for the production of all things small. There is not much that is large in a ring, pendant, ear-rings etc. With the pieces made so far for the Gilmer, I use the same procedure as when I make a piece of jewellery. Look at the photo or design, work out some proportions and go from there.
Having made jewellery for 44 years, I must say that the making of the bits for the Gilmer is very relaxing and most rewarding from the daily routine of trying to turn a dollar!!

Allo Bob, have you made any progress on the Gilmer? I am thinking of doing the very same thing with a GMP Offy, so I am very interested in your project. Are you interested in making a few bits? I'll pay!

Cheers

Rick,
Lots of other things in life have slowed down the project.
However, things are about to happen again after my visit with Jan Gilmer.
Let me know what you want....I'll see if I can assist.

Thanks mate, mostly wanted to see what your car is looking like. Allegedly I have a GMP Offy on the way from France; when it arrives I'll sort out what I need to do. I'm putting it in a static Gilmer midget, and putting a Saito twin in another Gilmer to run. I just spoke with Jan a few weeks ago, a real stand-up guy.

Cheers

I believe that look on the dash is achieved by using vinyl.
Michael,
You were dead right mate. Jan kindly gave me some of his "engined turned vinyl" for my midget dash, when I was with him. Geez he's a terrific guy. I thought I should track down my own stock though. Went on ebay and found this...
"small engined turned vinyl"...from a Company called Foxfire Distributing

BUT...they do not ship outside Continental USA! AAARGGHH!!!!

Guys..What is it with your American Companies and there shipping policies. It starting to drive me around the bend.

Been remiss in keeping this thread up to date. My son borrowed both my digital cameras and it was a job getting them back!!!! So here is the car, as it went together the last time.
