Re: Gilmer midget
The last 3 photos for now.
When I visited Jan in August, he told me that he only ever sold one of his kits to Australia. Amazingly he even recalled the name of the young lad that he sold it to, way back in 1990. That confirmed that my car is that very car. There may be others down here, however he is unaware of any!
This has been an amazing and wonderful build for me.
Thanks for looking guys.

Some detail shots.....
The steering arm, fuel pump and brake lever are all moveable. The dogbox lever also moves.
The exhaust pipe safety guard.
Made some imitation "knock offs" yesterday.

Re: Gilmer midget
As most of the car was build in the USA, I reckoned a American flag on the nose would finish it off.
Re: Gilmer midget
Bob: A fine car indeed. It sets a standard that a lot of enthusiasts aim for but very few achieve. Well done!

Very nice piece of work Bob. A tribute to the midget racers and Jan Gilmer. I aim to do a similar one

Re: Gilmer midget
I was contacted by Jennifer Kolita, a reporter from the Howard Lake USA newspaper "Herald Journal" in mid December. She had been searching the 'net doing a story on Jan Gilmer and his latest 3/4 midget restoration. Jennifer had seen that I, along with my mate Jeff, had travelled to Minnesota to visit him. She was intrigued why we would go to all that trouble. I told her that I needed to speak with the man who built the car that I had found in Sydney, after searching for 20 years. As I was staying in Knoxville Iowa and it was only a 6 hour drive away from him, it was too good an opportunity to let pass. She was amazed and asked a lot of questions and said there might be a story in it, down the track.
I checked the paper yesterday and WOW.....here is the result, if anyone is interested....
