It seems i have missed a heap of progress mate.
This build has come so far since i first found it and i have to say your an inspiration, i like to build the way you do, do it yourself and do it cheap as possible ( apart from your engine of course) your ingenuity and skill has been a real mindblower. Looking forward to more pics of this amazing build.
Cheers

Thanks troppo,, I'm really not leaning towards building as cheap as possible... I'm leaning towards building something from scratch and building something that has never been built before... I was told many times a few years ago that a 1/4 scale sheet metal rear end couldn't be built... I was also told that an exact 1/4 scale replica tube chassis couldn't be built... Due to structural design issues... Well needles to say i have proven that to not be a fact... And last but not least... I just love fabricating things... I've been fabricating things for many years and found that a 1/4 scale car will be quite the challenge...

As for the engine... Yes it will be a serious chunk of change to build... And trust me... I won't cut any corners when it comes to building it up... I have spoke with a few machinist on all the necessary machining and as to date I'm looking @ about $5,000 for the crank / cam / rods / blower vanes / deck bored, etc... I can do some of the machining work myself but i will need to farm out all the extremely precise machine work... If i where to guess i would say i will have close to $10,000 in the engine once it's done... But it's well worth every penny to me... It may take me a few years to get this thing built but it's going to happen...

I won't even go into my next project.. a 1932 bantam altered.. enough said!!!!

Thanks again
Stoney

Well i now have the tubs tack welded in.. I over cut the tubs to allow them to fit the quarter panels, once i get the body built i will trim the width to fit... here are a few shots of them.. The rest are on my site!

Thank you!

I think the body will be pretty much easy to form.. It's the L-body structure that's going to be a bit difficult to build, As like everything else goes my friend.. I'm not cutting any corners here.. Yes i said structure... Not just a sheet metal body welded to the chassis... It's being built like the real thing from the ground up. 8)

Update: I wasn't happy with the other tube design so i cut them off and cleaned up all the weld,, I then focused on my new tube design.. there constructed from 22 gauge Cold Rolled Steel, There attached via 1/8'' pop rivets.. I still need to trim the metal along the chsssis tubes and clean / seal the inner tubes but other than that there done! As you may have noticed i didn't spend alot of time cleaning up the welds along the seams.. Why! Because there will be cloth attached to the tubs that will match the interior and they won't be visible.. Now if i were going to go with a sheet metal interior look it would be a different story.. There is more shots of them on my site! http://www.quarterscaleprostreetberetta.com/Tubs.html

'' HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS ''

Well i managed to find the time to increase the size of my little work area.. It's currently 14'x14'x6' I am going to have a new garage/workshop built next year here at the house then i will move all my crap here.. It's currently located in the basement of our old home.. now my daughters home... I plan on re-sealing the south & west walls in the basement over the winter. but other than that it's > GOOD TO GO

Here are a few shots of the old work area. there are a few more on my site!

Thanks for the complements guys..

Troppo> Yes that was one of many leak test i did on it... AS you can clearly see.. The paper towel is wet. lol.. I forgot to put the Teflon tape on the fuel ports... it's good to go now!! other than welding the top on it and cleaning up all the welds... I'm planing on taking it to the shop next week sometime and spray it..

FuNKY mOnk> That cap is just temporary, it's 5/8'' x 1/2'' I'm going to build a T handle cap for it from a 3/4'' barrel mandrel.. I've got the mandrel i just need to shave it down a tad to fit snugly in the fuel fill inlet hole... Hopefully I'll have it all done and painted within a week or so.. I'm gradually getting all these components built for this thing..
