Daytona Coupe Display

Here is the first half of the shipment of the daytona display model i purchased. The engine was manufactured using the rapid prototyping process. The wheels apear to be made of plastic out of a crude mold. Both parts are fantastic and have a LOT of detail. Surely these were built off existing 3d cad models. WOW!

hey, that's what i was thinking. 3d prints! that's funny because a few month ago i asked for a quote to print a 3d model of a engine i have. not so cheap but you can even make functionnal with wires gears etc... it's very impressive technique, going cheaper and cheaper... i think i will use it to make my serpent turbine wheels...
silver paint with a "antique patine" should look nice on yours...

The engine parts are fragile. He did an awesome job packing everything. Bubble wrapped each engine part and wheel. The body has been bubble wrapped too and built into a crate.

The chassis on there is the original Racing Icons rolling chassis for static display. These were going to be static models.

body came today with the chassis. Very, very nice piece!! To add to the story of the QRS daytona coupe... I dont think this was one originally. I think this guy must have made a copy mold or something. This appears to have been chopper gunned and QRS never did that. Looks great still, but adds some more questions to the history of this stuff. Glad to have it. It will look great when i get tires on those wheels and get it all mounted up!

Yea, its actually in great shape. Thats not even cleaned up or waxed or anything.

I did take a minute to look at it again and i was wrong. Its not chopper gunned. Plust it has the right "signs" of it being QRS. Its just layed up with an extra 2 layers of fiberglass.

thanks for the lead on it, very happy with it. Its gonna look sweet in my office... next to the blue prints!!! LOL

Now that i am done playing, its time to clean it up and get the wheels sent out for foams.

If this car and engine was ment to be painted and put on display with the engine sitting next to it, then do it that way. Dont cut or distroy anything. Just make it look great. put it in your office and take lots of pictures for the rest of us to enjoy.
