Re: Pro Stock - Wheelie Bars

Post by c103110 »

Rain - rain - rain all day again for me... (6-days straight!!!!) . I started the wheelie bars using Stoneberk's Baretta videos and photos I have from NHRA events of various Pro Stockers. The tires might be a bit larger than 1/4 scale but they look real good on the car. I will update once the bars are finished, powder coated and installed.

Yes that wheelie bar design looks very familiar... The tires do look a tad big... But then again mine are to as well... Actually I'm going to use steel wheel collars on mine once i get around to looking for some that will work.. I will most likely just weld a piece of 3/16'' steel tube to the inside of it so i rotates well on the axle...

There looking good so far!!

Slight Progress Report: Adjustable top tubes on the wheelie bars are done. I hope to have them mounted on the car this weekend. Too bad for the Chi-Town Hustler.

I tried to take a photo, but my camera (or photographer) is not too good at close ups. There's not a lot of room back there to get the camera in a good angle either.

I mounted the lower and upper links of the wheelie bars to the left and right side, rear axle bearing blocks. If there was an axle tube on the skellenger style rear, I would have mounted them there.

The bearing blocks rotate are attached to the frame with a four link, so the bars work fine.

I took a photo of the wheelie bar attachments from a front angle and it came out just fine. I'm not sure what the heck was going on with the previous photo - unless I had too many visits with my old buddy Weiser. I left each side a little long in the front, just in case I needed to mount something to them in the future. If the extensions aren't needed, I'll just chop them off and touch up the powder coating. I plan to mount the engine low and to the rear. The drive shaft isn't going to be too long at all. Stay tuned.

Yaa think?
Is this not the 4-link brackets rather than the wheelie bar brackets?

I assume the wheelie bars are mounted on the rear of the bearing block.. After all,, there not quite visible in that shot!

Engine and clutch mock up. The engine fits nice, and I'll soon make an aluminum mount.
