It was chromed when it was originally built.

I made the chute packs today. I just knew I'd put that 7th grade home ec class to good use some day.
Still need a good piliot chute, then they are good to go.

Very Nice!!!!!
Where are you folks mounting the chutes if it is pulling up the car up from the Track?
If you run a wheelie bar, you may want to put a "net" on to keep the chute from catching on it (plus it looks cool) It does not have to be permanent mounted, just something to keep the chute from getting stuck and rubbing itself on the ground into nothing.
I did find some color coordinated parachutes for our Funny Cars.

Paul...Did you figure out if you could chop / modify the LRU body to fit this chassis?
If not, you might be able to find a local fabricator with a long sheet-metal brake to fold you up one to fit out of aluminum. That's what I did to get my latest chassis made. I first built a perfect-sized one out of poster board, them took THAT to a fabricator who builds street rods and asked "How much to make this out of sheet Aluminum?"

I am going to mount them on a cross bar as close as I can to where the big cars have them mounted.
MRO, I think the LRU body will work out although I don't have exact dimentions. I plan to order one closer to Christmas time.

Parachute backing plate and launchers are done, tested, work great! Not sure how I am going to mount the packs to the car 'till the rear end is finished and installed. Maybe tomorrow.
The wiring is also done. Next will be the chute and brake linkage, and then the body when It gets here.

Re: 1/4 Scale Top Fuel Dragster PROJECT!!!!
Got the chutes all mounted up, and gave them a test shot. Just sitting still they cleared the wheelie bars, so they should go out even further when the car is moving. It took several types of spring combos 'till I got the laucnchers right, but these seem to be almost perfect.
All packed
After launch
Long View.. It's coming along pretty good.

Re: 1/4 Scale Top Fuel Dragster PROJECT!!!!
Got home from Chicago today to find UPS left me something while I was away for the weekend.
It's a little long, but it will work fine! I just need to shorten it up a bit.

Interested in seeing your crop and chop job. I wish those stinking bodies were shorter. I think they were for bill cains TF dragster that was built like the quartermortar car.

Re: 1/4 Scale Top Fuel Dragster PROJECT!!!!
I'd sure rather SHORTEN one than try to lengthen it. I think I'd shorten it from the back, unless it needs to be full height around the cockpit to cover the tubes.
