Good evening Gentlemen,
This is my first post on this forum, So Hello from me to all the good people on here.
Let me give you a little bit of my history before I start asking a lot of questions.
I'm 50 years old (sadly),I live in a town called Huddersfield. It's a strange name for a town as it derived it's name from the Viking hordes that invaded us. Huddersfield is located in Yorkshire England.
I've been involved in models of some sort for the last 41 years. The last 39 years have dedicated to R/c modelling.
In 1993 I made the decision to move from 1/4 scale aero R/C to 1/8 scale I/C cars. I ran PB and Serpent cars for 3 years achieving some success in this scale.
In 1999 I made the move to 1/5 scale with a H.A.R.M. CLK car and again achieved some success with this vehicle. I campaigned this vehicle for 2 years before family and work obligations overtook me.
I'm now in a position to look at these Large Scale cars again. I've seen the video's that MR. QSL has posted and I have to say that the RACO INDY car really does excite me.
I know what you're thinking....Nobody makes these cars anymore !!!
However, I can probably bring together the resources to build a chassis. But I may need some help with "Drawings etc".
I am thinking of using "MCD" parts for the driveline....What do you think ?
Also are Raco Indy car bodies still available.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I really hope to hear from you all soon.

All the best,

Nick.

G'day Nick,
Mate you'll get all your questions answered here... and some more!
Great part of the world...Yorkshire England.
I spent a fair bit of time on weekends around Doncaster and the little mining village of Askern, when I lived in London between 1979 and 1981.

The Indy car body is still available through LRU:

Don't know about how many of those chassis are still floating around, though. Have you considered using Yankee components, which may be more available to you in the UK?

If you can fabricate some of your own components, that would be a big plus, as most of the large-scale open-wheel cars have been out of production for at least fifteen years.

Welcome Nick, wonderful choice of a car you picked to start with. The Raco Indy is one of the most affordable desire car out there.

Hey, thanks for the great welcome Gentlemen.
All your replies are both informative and funny. I like that a lot.
Many thanks to the links for Indy Bodies and Yankee bits. That really does help a lot.
I like all your references to Yorkshire colloquialisms. It's great that these are recognised all over the world. And believe me, as a Peruvian national (to English Parents) I'm still trying to get my head around most of them. However I think my Yorkshire folk have a tendancy to drop their H's. So the pronouciation might be 'Uddersfield lol.
Thanks again for the welcome Gents. I think the progress of my homebuilt 1/4 scale is going to be painfully slow. But bit by bit I will get there in the end.

All the best,

Nick.
