1/3 scale drag bike

Post by QAman »

I started this project about a year ago. Had to put it away for awhile because other things kept getting in the way. Had a long week end so i decided to knock the dust off and get a little more done to it.

I got the engine mounted in. It is a 52CC Pocket Bike engine. I mounted it in with five rubber mounts that they use in 1/4 scale boats. I think this engine is going to move around to much though. May have to go with a different mount later. Im at a stand still untill i get a rear hub made so i can get the chain to clear the chassis.

Geoff, thanks for the info. I always had John Foster make my hubs and rims, but im going to try it myself this time. Only because he is swamped with other toys. Funky, The front end came off a 1/4 scale nitro Dacati motorcycle that used to sell on Tower Hobbies (discontinued). I found the steel lower rods, aluminum upper and lower triple trees, and the plastic axle mounts on ebay. The original bike came with hollow aluminum uppers with springs and seals for oil. Way to lite for this application do to the weight of the bike, so i made my own out of aluminum round stock and a set screw to hold the lowers in. Roger.
