Gilmer midget

Post by jayhurrikane »

About 20 plus years ago I bought two gilmer midgets from Jan (yes I know him that long I'm old) and I kept one and ran it !my buddies ran it! lot of fun just recently restored it , it's on this site! Any way the second car which is yellow I gave to a friend so he can get into it. Well the car languished in the garage for all these years until today I had the time to visit and I reclaim it, never run just thrown around ,I spoke to Jan gilmer recently and we spoke about the yellow car, I guess it was meant to come back to me, pics to follow

Awesome job. Car looks like a piece of jewelry.

If you like quarter scales, that is.

When are we gonna see some video of it blasting across a parking lot??

Night and day from when you got it.... Love how you left the gilmer name off of it ... Looks more realistic. Great restoration .... It was crying for a Prostreet redo.....

Outstanding job on the resto Bill. Dominick, Jan Gilmer's preference on rim diameter is roughly 3 1/2" give or take and is at least on most of his cars that came directly from him but don't quote me on this, I've seen builds like Bill's that went larger, BRP doesn't even make foams to fit the Gilmer rims, only maybe a special order if you send Todd your rims? Bill looks to have at least a minimum of 4" diameter rim, going larger on the rear tires will only go against Gilmer's preference to his design but it all comes down to preference. Also I think the Gilmer and sponsor decals would add more charm to that car but that's my preference.
