Wonderful experiences...

Post by bobjeffreson »

Just back this morning from 2 fantastic weeks in your wonderful country. In a trip dotted with highlights, 2 that stand out were meetings with Mr Gary Conley and Mr Jan Gilmer. Both are true gentlemen and went out of their way to give 2 unknowns from Australia, the time of their lives. The craftsmanship of both men is a credit to their dedication to the Q scale hobby.
Also caught up with a newcomer to Q scale, Mr Randy Brown of Paris Illinois. Randy is just in the early stages of manfacturing modern down-tube Q scale RC midgets. He also gave us a terrific reception and filled us in on his plans for the midget and a Q scale sprintcar, down the track.
Thanks to all these men who made for some truly wonderful experiences.

LOL...Yeah, that was pretty much the case. Did my bit to stimulate your economy!
Mike,
First thing I saw when I walked into Gary's basement bar was this......OMG..
A Pacesetter with a Conley under the hood. He just reaquired it after many years in private ownership, although he did suggest that it may go back on the market.

When we were ushered to the far end of Gary's shop, we came across this sight!!!!
It's enough to make one audibly gasp for air. It was just staggering for me, who has never seen one of these motors, let alone nearly 40! There are more tucked around the corner, across from the bucket hot rod in the background.

I know I was supposed to be enthralled by the engines, but I have to say that I LOVE your Australian accent.

I've never seen that many engines in one place. That was mighty impressive!!!!! Thanks for posting the video so we could all see.

Actually, it's a good thing I've been keeping YOU busy with guns. I sold all those engines in the garage and bought myself more guns.

I'm often asked if I am from England or Australia, but alas it's just a speech problem.
One of these days I'm hoping Mike will take me down under. I could spend weeks listening to that accent.
That and I want to ogle a koala bear. We have them in the zoos here, but all they do is sleep. I can't
find a zookeeper that will let me poke at one to see what they look like while awake.
