Shipment of car question, and concern

Post by jtrides65 »

Ok guy's, here's the deal. I bought this car, it was taken to the post office on the 2nd of September and shipped in california. I was sent a picture of the tracking number and have been waiting patiently, it say's expected delivery 9 sept. 2015 which has came and gone. I called the post office numerous times as it has no tracking info and it was not insured and was shipped standard mail which the post master said is the slowest way to send. Has anyone ever dealt with kind of issue?

Here is what you get, from day one the post office at its finest. please people, do not ever send something of value thru the postal service as they do not track big items, this is straight from the manager at local post office. she told me that the conveyor belts will not handle the weight or size so they don't get run by the scanner.. and sending standard post, never ever have I sent anything standard post, worse then the pony express.. One last note to self, remember to never lie to someone about insuring an item as the other person can check the tracking and call and find out if it was insured.. I am not going to throw names around but I hope the person I bought the car from reads this..

Even if you purchase insurance, the post office will rarely pay out. Their tracking system is terrible too. I can't tell you how many thousands of dollars I have lost because of them. People complain about the higher UPS rates, but at least its not government run.

well the car mysteriously showed up today after calling consumer affairs at post office, the body is shot, will take pics later today but the chassis is in one piece. lessons learned, never use usps and IF you do insure it. UPS will handle all my stuff. I want to send Al Gibson a big cuddos as I bought a body and chassis from him. can't ask for a better guy to deal with then AL.

Large items should be shipped by UPS or FedEx as the rates are better. Small items are ok for USPS as the rates are cheaper than UPS or FedEx. I never had items lost by USPS.

I think that we have all lost something at one time or another when dealing with USPS. I am a slow learner but USPS has taught me that they CAN deliver. How ever they are specialist. They have taught me that if i send a letter it will have a 99% chance it will get to its destination. If its a package of any size i try to use USPS only in desperate situations. and then i look at what i'm shipping and try to guess how long it will take me to remake what ever i am shipping. The only thing that has a 100% delivery rate is junk mail. you get it every time. I am thinking that i can improve my chances of getting a package delivered if if do the final wrap with a sheet of junk mail. They will see it as a high priority and git er there. I was a little smarter when it came to shipping a complete car I ordered some custom cardboard boxes, I took them to the UPS store and had them pack and ship the car. The car was a complete total when it was delivered .But It was insured and i billed UPS the full price and they paid no problem but the customer had to wait for a new car to get there. The closest UPS for me is 28 miles away and only open on one day a week from 4pm to 7pm so don't use them anymore. Well that brings me to Fedex. I have used them for years now and have yet to have a problem. The are also the cheapest and by far the fastest.. I am sure there are stories out there that will parallel mine. If this bored any of you plese forgive me. Consider it as a poor mans therapy
