3 1/3 scale V8's
These engines are commonly known as black widows or ken hurst engines. These three engines are in various stages. Its amazing to look at all the work thats required to make one of these. Just take a look at the middle set. That is a raw casting set that has not been touched yet. I just wish i had the kind of patience and skill it takes to make one of these gems.

Nice!!!! Where did you find these??? They are nice engines once complete they do require lots or work and patience... Nice score!!!!

That engine was designed by the late John Vlavianos in Stockton, CA. John and Ken Hurst were in the same Model Engine club here in the Bay Area. Ken is still very active in it. John was a retired Cal Trans Engineer and an artist when it came to casting things from metal. I had the pleasure of meeting John and hanging out with him at the Devecchio foundry where he cast these. John also had partially designed a inline 4 which was basically 1/2 of the V8. Unfortunately he wasn't able to finish it, he passed away in 2008. www.baemclub.org
