Re: Another sprint car find
So let's jump into it
Chopped her up. She needed a complete front end. Wasn't attempting to fix her
All joints have a solid steel doll rod pressed in them to keep the new tube straight and tight
I used silicon bronze to weld the joints up keeping in good faith with the way it was original welded up
Except for the four connecting joints to the original frame

Re: Another sprint car find
Getting closer. The rear bar was cut that hold the tank up. So I stuffed a solid rod right thru it and cut a piece to suit the space. Still needs welding. The outside where the bar went thru is welded up and filed down. You never can tell I was there
Re: Another sprint car find
I welded the four joints attaching the new section ( the mid to to front end ) to the original frame with 80S2 for a stronger joint and pain stakenly filed them down so you neve pr know I was there. The solid round stock pressed inside made for a great fir and weld prep
Re: Another sprint car find
I got this project at such a great deal I refused to let her be disregarded. I think the skellenger axle alone almost paid for the whole thing. Lol. She's alive to race another day. I have a new motor for her and of course she's getting my tires .... The car came with a total of 20 rims and tires. Tires are no good but the rims are in great shape. So. I'm making yet more tires. Lol.

Awesome project, i'm sure she will be an awesome ride when your done. I think it feels great to bring back an old relic from near death and restore them to their former beauty. Nice work and thanks for sharing your project in progress!
Re: Another sprint car find
At this time I think I'm going to polish up the chrome moly tubing frame and clear coat it. I've always wanted to do one like that. Will see.... As for now. All the parts on the car require cleaning and polishing. It literally came with no suspension rods but luckily I have hundreds of spares ready for action. Not even chancing the motor. I have a brand new one never run for it.
Re: Another sprint car find
Thanx Al..... I am grateful I have the skills required to do it.... This is the best part of restoring these cars.

Re: Another sprint car find
Moving along.... Had to replace the front arms on it. Never seen any one use plastic rods but I guess they worked. Drilled some holes in the new section of the frame for the front arms
