Raco Shocks

Post by dwayne »

I have some shocks off a Grand National that have no oil in them. What is the correct way to refill these and can i use just normal motor oil? I can unwind the shock body etc and ive filled with oil, but if i put too much in there is no movement, and if I take some out it doesnt extend itself back out after being pushed in....(sorry i hope that explains the problem)...Any help or advice would be appreciated.. :?:

use some shock oil from the hobby shop. I would go with 40 or 50wt. fill up the shock and thread in the piston but not all the way. now push it in and out and oils will start coming out. Thats ok... slowly tighten and keep compressing the shock. In the end, it will be tightned and no oil should be coming out. The shock should move freely both ways.
