Post by Mike Casey »

Possible scam alert...

auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... TQ:US:1123

Contacted seller and got the following response.

My message to him...

Dear 3tsgreg2010,

want to bid, but cautious with feedback. Can you give me your phone number and name? thanks!!!
- quarterscalelegends

His reply...

Dear quarterscalelegends,

Then don't bid on it, as I don't gives a rats ass! Just because
I don't live on e-bay like some of you guys does not mean I
am a flake. So bid or quite whinning
- 3tsgreg2010

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I would hate to see someone screwed out of $700+ bucks. It could be legit... but i would pass.

I have a buddy in Chandler AZ, if his ebay address is legit, I'd just have my friend pay him a visit.
I'm sure there gotta be a member from here that leave close to his area, maybe they can verify it before someone makes a big mistake.

ebay wont do crap and paypal is easy. All you have to do is withdraw the money and close the account. They wont be able to back out the charge. Maybe if you use a credit card with protection too. :?

Joe has been around long enough. If he thinks its the guy, it probably is. There is enough proof right there.

Hey Funky, no thats not one of bob's hubs, I got that hub with another Skellenger I bought sometime ago.
Up to you, I still have the original hub and axle that came with it, thats why I offered you the choice of which axle you wanted.
Let me know, I still have the other one if you want it.

Bob Smith makes some of the BEST stuff you can find for 1/4 scale, matter of fact, he is the only one I know making this type of stuff and helping keep the scale alive!

Actually I am curious to know the deal with these rear ends????
Are they compatible with skellenger ring and pinions? how about the QC gears?
I just think if i am going to pay $800 for a QC rear, it's gotta be a Skellenger, not a repro..
If there getting $825 for a repro, what is a Skellenger worth?.

To me, it makes no difference, for racing in these cars with nitrous, I have seen Skellengers blow apart, most guys use either New Era or a Bob S rear end.

It's a great thing for the hobby to have guys like Quarter Mortar and Bob S, giving us more choices of some much needed parts.

none of it is compatible, its a newly designed rear that does not utilize ANY old stock parts. Besides the many neat improvements, it has a much stronger casting which was a major weak point of the skellengers. After all, those rears were designed only to be used in sprint cars.

Thanks for clearing that up, it doesn't say anything like that on the site, maybe they should put something like that up, I almost bought one awhile ago, only because I had a load of ring n pinions and QC gears...Man I would have been pissed! lol

Well thats a major improvement if they did make them stronger, I would love to just get some feedback on someone actually using them...

The key is to have a setup that does NOT eats ring and pinion gears.

Can't be too competitive running a 23cc...
Even using a 54 or 72cc with no juice, it would most likely be fine for sometime.

But trying to use Nitrous, they just blow apart after awhile..
So if you don't drag race and just collect, I am sure your rear ends will last forever! lol

Again...

above it says, "cant be too competitive running a 23cc" got me thinking... What does that mean? Do you guys race, or is it just top speed challenges?
