Is the Recovery Act Working in the US?

Post by c103110 »

Today, we received the 'unexpected' unemployment numbers for November (9.8%). Since the Recovery Act was signed into law in January 2009, authorizing the expenditure of $787 Billion Dollars, the US Government has spent roughly $577.2 Billion to date http://www.recovery.gov.

According to the original plan, the unemployment rate was predicted to be reduced to 7% by now.

Here's a chart comparing the planned unemployment rate vs. the actual unemployment rate since the Recovery Act was signed into law.

yea, but you forgot that they created temporary jobs through city works projects and such. We are getting a multi billion dollar high speed train here in california that goes from one town nobody ever goes to, to another town that does not even have a post office. They are hoping its going to help the unemployment rate in those towns because its approx. 20% right now.

In california we also put in a low income housing track. 32 homes and the project only cost just over 40 million....

Mike, at least it'll be a GREEN high speed train to nowhere.

I checked on Joe 'The Sheriff' Biden's Recovery transparency site http://www.recovery.gov and California has already spent 13 Billion (13 thousand, million, dollars) and created 54,303 jobs. According to my math, that equals $239,397 per job.

There's still another 14 Billion (14 thousand, million, dollars) to be spent.

I suspect a highway to nowhere is in the works.

I have a bid into Sacramento to put in some plants near barstow. Its a nice plot of land 78 miles off highway 15 in the desert. You need a a 4x4 to get there but there is a small population of rare insects there that would enjoy this 10ft x 10ft paradise i am planning for them. I expect to employ 3 illegals from the local home depot. I also think i could finish this project in either 1 weekend or three years, i am keeping it open. But anyhow, i figured a smooth 2 million would get the job done.
