New Era GN Project
New Era GN Project
Here’s my New Era GN project. It looks like someone started assembling the car and never finished. It’s a bit of a roach but I think I can make it look good, most of the parts are here and what’s missing I think I can make.
It even has a serial number, how cool is that

The spindles and sway bar arms are taking shape . It’s amazing what can be done with a file, some sand paper and buffing wheel.

Thats a AWSOME RIDE Cryo-Tex!!!!! Keep postin pics of the build
I could see Jeff Gordon's Dupont #24 wraped around that chassis

I’m going with cad plated hardware on this one. I like that greenish gold color.
The tires have been caped with some BRP treads.
I don’t know what to do with the frame yet. I was thinking black chrome or dark nickel.
Dom, Who's Jeff Gordon?
I would like to put a corvette on it if I can find one. A Tide car to go with my Tide submarine would also work.

I see that now.
There’s nothing the same between the two. @*&% I have the wrong chassis.
It’s going to be finished and then it’s off to Ebay. Thanks for the helpful information.
It looks like Mikes just going to have to sell me his Yellow one now.

Re: New Era GN Project
OK all you purists, here’s your chance to pick on my non-original car. I do have all of the stock parts in case someone else wants to put it back to the way it was.
I figured that it should turn real nice with a differential in it so here it is.... Yes, that’s a custom sprocket I made up because I didn’t want to convert to belt drive.
Yes I need some brakes! Not the chance, the speed reduction type.
My questions are:
Now that I have a differential do I need to have a brake on each rear wheel?
Could I put a caliper on the sprocket?
I didn’t get any brake parts with the car so what ever I do I’ll have to build it.
As usual, your thoughts are welcome.
I know, the rear tire is on backwards…

Re: New Era GN Project
I’ve been enlightened, The backwards tire was by accident.
I have been trying to cure rear axle harmonics on one of my Yankee car by changing the muffler bearing when all I had to do was change the tread directions on one of the rear slicks. Who’d a thunk!
But seriously, Thanks for the input on the brakes vwguru75. Looks like the sprocket caliper is out.
FYI, McMaster Carr doesn’t have French muffler bearings.
