I have a car with a 54mm clutch that when at idle or when i let it roll for a distance the clutch bell makes alot of noise. Sounds like pinging. Almost like if you hit a bell with a hammer. I notice at idle the clutch bell tries to turn then stops and continues this with the pinging noise. it does this at all idle speeds. Do i have a week spring on a clutch shoe or is this something that some of these clutchs do? First time i heard this on a car. Thanks, Roger.

Hi Roger. Is the clutch bell running true.If it's out of round a little the shoes will catch that spot.Or do you have the washers in their proper place. The thick washer should be between the cluch shoe and the carrier, and the thin washers should be under the bolt. Make sure the shoes open up evenly and are not too tight.Or ,Is the thickness of the pads the same. Meaning there not shoes from different sets.
