Obama... "we built that"

well, got a little story for you guys....

Starting a new branch here for my business. We spent over 40k making this place look good. New paint, signs, landscaping, etc. City comes in for business licence and asks about 300 sq ft of office space that is in the building (built in the 50's) We tell them it was there when we moved in. (which it was) well, not good enough. They are holding our business licence because there were never permits pulled on the space.... They want us to pay an engineer and draftsman ($4000) to draw up detailed plans with beam spacing, etc. They want us to pull off the drywall. They want us to modify the counter for handicapped. They want us to put handicapped spaces in.... keep in mind we are industrial wholesale. If your in a wheelchair, you CAN NOT pick up what we have to sell!!! Basically the city has put so much red tape on this project that we need to treat it like a storage lot and sell the product out of a city that actually likes tax income.

Wow Obama! Thanks for building our business for us!!! You didnt build that!!!

You should contact your CRE broker and asked them to provide you with a copy of the space leased detail as it will prove to the city of the existing space... The owner of the building should have a copy of an appraisal detailing the office...

Just a thought

I did but its not good enough for the city. They want a complete build out plan with stud spacing, thickness of beams, electrical, parking, handicapped access. Hopefully we will have the plans done by end of next week. But city hall is going to be closed for a couple weeks. Keep in mind this is not for retail. This is an industrial space with roll up doors... Oh yea, they want a structual engineer to come out as well and have plans made for the racks.

Just think... without all this red tape... how would ANY business be created. Sure glad they are here to build these businesses for us!!!

The sale of Goodrich's pump and engine controls systems business, required by the U.S. Department of Justice and European Union to satisfy anti-trust concerns related to United Technologies Corp's purchase of Goodrich, has been scuttled by the same regulators.

TransDigm Group, a Cleveland-based aircraft component manufacturer, had agreed to buy the business for $236 million from UTC. That sale was announced in October. Transdigm and UTC announced Thursday afternoon that the agreement was being dissolved because of the Justice Department's objections. The purchase was supposed to close this month or early in 2013.

Mike, is there any way you can integrate one of the following terms into the Company Name: "Green", "Sustainable", "Alternate Energy", "Carbon-Neutral", "Eco-Friendly", or "Hemp" ?

I'm thinking a CA City inspector's rubber stamp and at least a $1M-$2M US Federal Goverment Grant would be a slam dunk if you would just admit that Global Warming is the biggest challenge of our generation, and your company supports a GREEN economy.

One benefit of Government's overreach: with 5-6 empty Handicap spots in front of the building, you'll always have a great spot to park that Cobra.

What a total mess.
