Off-road wheels/ tires for a stadium truck

Post by Chriszilla »

Figured I'd toss this one out, hopefully without sounding like a pain in the..but I'm having some trouble finding inflatable tires. I have a set of rims, the fronts appear to be 2" wide and the backs roughly 3" wide all are 4" diameter. Looking for a complete wheel or tire set for sale or input on where to find tires for both dimensions for a stadium truck? Any help since all I'm finding is 4.10x3.50x5or6..
Big thanks to Emilio for help finding a body, it's on it's way.

Hi, This is the tires I use on my Raco ST. They are Cheng Shin 9x3.50-4. I don't know what rims you are using but with my rims I had to use nylon packing tape to build up the rim at the bead area to center the tire. The tires are tubeless but you will need tubes unless you can seal the rims. Image

Good to know, thanks! I figure that size will work on the rears, but the front rims are 2" wide so I'm at a loss for finding matching tires. Maybe a full set of 3" wide by 4" tall rims all around will work if they fit or I can find any?

I found tires at the local tractor supply, they're a bit taller than the norm but look pretty cool. I had to adjust the suspension geometry to make them work but the truck sits pretty well. I decided to go with losi 5ive shocks to have the right travel. Looks more like a lifted pickup than a stadium truck, but it'll be nice when it's done. Thanks for the tip!

The wheels I showed you are tubeless. Tubes add more weight and I see you used 4.10 x 3.5 x 4 2ply tires. not to scale. Better choice 9 x 3.50 x 4 or 8 x 3 x 4 tires. Slicks would be smaller in these sizes for on road. :D

True you have me there. But, I'm not building it from a purist standpoint but instead a particular look that I'm going for. And if I'm wrong at least tires are easily changed!

Bigger tires put more stress on the steering servos and put more load on the rear end. What gear ratio are you running in the diff? I hope it's at least 7.5:1.

I'd have to check the rear, only the gears that came with it. I have no intentions of using it but I will set it all up to run and only run it for show. I have 2 losi 5ives and a dbxl to beat on anyway.

In relativity tire size and servo and rear end strain go right out the window if I shot it off too big of a jump anyhow, but again it's only a restoration not a basher. Shoot everything breaks if you test the limits of something.
