That is so sweet Mike, try and make some 1932 frame rails to go with the rear or a T- Bucket body, you're on your way to making some detailed models. You started something new again within the 1/4 scale community Lol You now can sell these little items to people who have printers but don't have the parts to scan. The sky is the limits here.

I am really excited about this new hobby. It really is a ton of fun. Taking something digital and just printing it when you feel like it. Its amazing technology.

A couple comments about the two printers.

The smaller one is for sure easier to use. Setup, software, etc, Very intuitive. Its really geared for people that don't really know how to do this stuff. Which is really neat. Works with iPhone and web applications very nicely. Software though is pretty basic.

The larger one takes a little more setup and the software is much more advanced. You can do much larger prints and its quieter due to being enclosed. The build quality of the unit is mind blowing and really makes me feel like I got a great deal on this unit. I think they both compliment each other nicely and I am glad I have both.

Excited to get them both going at the same time.

Wow!! I wonder if this rear is stronger than the QRS plastic rear? Anyway, that is a fine example of where this is headed. Mike can you save the QC rear data or do you have to scan everytime?

This plastic (PLA) i don't think would be good for the center section. However, I think its probably as strong as the really brittle qrs covers.

To make a center to run, I plan on printing in ABS or Nylon. That should be fine.

You save the 3d files, so yes. I always have this. This one is not from a scan though. This is from a friend that manually drew them. The scanner would not be able to generate such a clean and precise file.

Your friend did a great job on the file, how did he even start? Mike did you try to scan the rear before the file?

I have not tried to scan. But for sure it would not capture the exact dimensions and bearin journals. A drawing is much more suited for this. He is a master of creating these things since he is involved in a lot of design.

3d printing is a real change in model making. cost is ok today, next limits are size and time.
drawing 3d parts is also a big challenge. market of 3d files is growing too.
