Moody sprint car 1/8 scale construction for 1/4 scale
Moody sprint car 1/8 scale construction for 1/4 scale
I'm panning around the ideal of mixing some of the 1/8 scale construction of the moody sprint car with the 1/4 scale WCM Sprintcar . I like the pan frame with the tube frame mix... Gives it a nice look... As for the belt drive, that may get lost in the kabashhh.....lol... I think I may have to go with a Raco rear for a couple of reasons. For one. I have plenty of them and there cheap. Second....you can change gearing in them.... I think this would make for a strong and sturdy combination.... With this construction, easy way out would be a hard mounted rear... Not a fan of that , but as I stated ... Easy way out ... Or .. Engineer a complete separate plate to mount the rear on that floats with a straight axle configuration. Or. Hard mounted Raco rear with dog bones like the Jack Rabbits. As I stated. Panning this around. But I've had this on my mind for a while
Re: Moody sprint car 1/8 scale construction for 1/4 scale
So you're planning on making a 1/4 scale moody? You should also consider making your own 1/8 scale WCM sprint type. Just for the record, these 1/8 moody can cost as much or more than a 1/4 scale sprint car, very rare. I love 1/8 scale cars, I have something 1/8 down the road. It's going to be an Indy roadster 1930, 40, 50 60 all mixed into one, Getting all the parts together for the future build. Hope you don't mind me adding this?
Re: Moody sprint car 1/8 scale construction for 1/4 scale
I've researched the Moody's. Theres a type of Moody called the Rex Moody.... It's all tube frame just like its big brother WCMs. So I'll have to stick with the 1/4 scale version.. Those Moody's are very costly ... That's for sure

A Rex is not a "Rex Moody". It's just a Rex. Different car's.

Sorry I got that wrong. I thought you said ....
"There's a type of Moody called the "Rex Moody" not a "Rex"
I just assumed my story by Ron Moody might be related.....
But hey... no problems.

Bob, I was referring to this. Moody and Rex are two different cars.

And. I'll get back on topic. I think the pan on the Moody sprint car is cool looking. And makes for a strong foundation for the rest of the car. I'm gonna introduce it to a non down tube frame WCM sprint car ......Should be neat......
Greaaaaaaaat info..... Was just interested in the look of the car thou....
