Pacesetter rear (worm gear) needed!

Post by Chriszilla »

I just shaved the rear end input shaft off on my top fuel dragster :( it's the input shaft with the small worm gear. Unfortunately it's one piece so I'm hoping someone may have one around?

they are basically impossible to find. I only had one set in all my years of collecting. you may want to check with mcmastercarr and see if you can get something close and machine it.

Darn that's not good news, I feel like the silver dollar rears just don't pop up often. I really want to keep that rear as it fits the dragster but I don't want it to just be for static display either, I like everything in running condition. My other option would be to fit a quick change rear to it but I'm not really interested in that idea unless it was my last choice.

I'd buy the whole rear end assembly of course if that's what it takes but as far as availability goes it may be tough..

What are the odds of that..I messaged him. Seems like I'll be paying all the money for it if he gets back to me but without that rear is no better than a paperweight. Fingers crossed I guess.

I talked to that guy on eBay, looks like I'll be back in business soon. The only other thing I need to find are some good front wheels, the tires on it aren't a good fit. I start another post for that. Thanks for the help, it saved the day!
