Hey Stef,

thank you.
The Yankee body is nearly perfect. The tool is handmade in 1992 Laurent told me.
That's the great work...

I only cut out what's too much :-)

It is not easy to maschine a PBS gearbox even if you have a drawing :-)

Have been admiring your chassis design.
Are you calculating roll center, cg, polar moment of inertia etc in it's design?
Really dig your machine work.

The complete design will be made in CAD so it is easy to see where the roll center and the center of mass will be. I will show it later in this post if somebody is interested but in the end this car will be a shelf queen.

I'm an old school guy who builds stuff out of my head & with simple dimensional drawings.
Very interested in how design & engineering is executed at the next level.
Any thing that you would find yourself willing to share would be appreciated.

I milled the PBS gearbox. I also made a new steel axle. The aluminum axle was always a weak point at the RACO...

The Luther V8 engine and the PBS gearbox just arrived.
Looks good but over all it is 40mm too long...Luther said he
made some changes in the last years. That really causes problems...

That's got to be really frustrating...it's a beautiful piece!!
What's your solution?

Hi Rc, is the problem going to be the exposure of the engine through the rear windshield?

Hallo guys,

sorry for my late reply. This concept shows what the Problem is. I am 65mm behind the perfect Position of the rear Axle. That means that I have to engineer my own gearbox that brings my axle in the right Position. This might be possible if I place the clutch on the outer side of the gearbox...

this project will take much longer as I expected and much more expensive too.

When looking at a full screen blow-up of your diagram, the bellhousing/clutch can/scattershield between the engine & trans (what ever the proper Ferrari term may be) seems quite long. I assume that there's no way to shorten it to help correct the alignment of the axle?

There is a way if I move the clutch behind the rear axle...

Clutch behind rear axle = very good thinking / proper engineering!
