Daytona Coupe 1/4 scale project.

Hey folks just a quick check list that's done, new QC rear mounts fabricated, welded and angled to line up with the clutch drum shaft, drive shaft done, brake caliper brackets done.Just waiting on a dry day to paint the chassis, no powder coaters near me, to bad. In the mean time been doing some work on my C3 Corvette. Stay tuned. Thanks for your support.

Thank you fab, the chassis is pretty much 95% done with only a master cylinder and brake lines, fuel tank and left side pipes and brackets left to do, then it's off to finish the already started body. This has been a pretty challenging project at least for me. Hope you enjoy

Hey folks, finished painting hood and stripes, I'm very happy with the results but it's far from perfect and it's the best I can do. I stayed away from bondo as I would have made it worse using that stuff so there are little pin holes here and there from the mold but nothing crazy. Next is the rear of the body, then going to order number circles,traditional decals and numbers. Hope you enjoy

Thank you Robbie and Kaye. I have a mini update on the fuel tank I'm using. I was going to fabricate a fuel tank out of metal but luckily found an extra Yankee fuel tank I had for years which is nice and light and no need to weld brackets or weld period. I purchased these 1/2" plastic brackets at home depot which are the exact diameter as the lower tubing of the chassis, I cut one end off scuffed tank and bracket then glued with DIP fuse super glue, which I like the best. The brackets flex open to install over the chassis, works great. The Yankee tanks use a center strap to fasten them to their belly pans, I will make a nice strap to fully secure the tank to the lower bar beneath the tank. To humid to paint the rest of the body today. Hope you enjoy

Yankee fuel tank and Home Depot brackets = a neat and uncomplicated solution.

This model is looking great, there are no unnecessary parts in the build, giving it a 'factory built look and feel'. Wow!

why is the motor on a 45deg angle? I see a few different types of builds and some are like this? is it a clearance issue?

Hi fab, yes it's for clearing the hood, on most builds the engine sits in the middle of the chassis and have all the room to sit upright. On the original QRS Daytona coupe it would have made no sense to mount any engine in the middle especially with a tilt open hood. Jeff Schmidt made the specs off of the real Daytona blue prints keeping it real. And purely my opinion, I think the conely engines are to small in scale for this car.
