1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version
Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version
The front suspension looks pretty simple to make, but looks could be deceiving. What I'll do is follow this drawing I modified to cut and weld shapes together.

Hey folks, fooling around with Photoshop, I superimposed the real lotus 49 over my 1/4 scale. Came pretty close and Jim Clarke looks pretty comfortable.

Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version
Hey folks,I got over excited and couldn't wait the next 24 hours for the rear part of the body to be finished but there's a change of plans. I was going to make my lotus 49 with aluminum panels and custom chassis, but after seeing the 3d prints of the detail in the 49 body it became very obvious that the effort and parts will do justice into the 3d printed body. The plan is to trace out the rear and front panel on a metal plate, cut to fit and join them to the rear and front bulk heads to support the front suspension and the rear engine. Anyway, I will soon post the progress when all said and done.

Hey folks, yes it's me again. Getting closer to achieving my Lotus 49 1/4 scale.The main fuselage is complete. Waiting for my larger printer to arrive so I can print the windscreen cowl and nose cone in one continuous print.The objective is to make metal plates on either end bulk heads to accommodate a support structure for the rear engine and front suspension. Afterwards all the accessories will be added, from seat, mirrors, dash and wheel and so on. Hope you enjoy

Well I don't know what to say, except from zero (no 3D experience) to this, in a few short weeks, is nothing short of spectacular! An inspiration for all,

Just an update where I'm at for the moment. I sold my Prusa i3 mk3 printer as I only need one printer to do all sizes I need. I purchased a larger printer with a 300 x 300 x 400mm print area but had issues with the buildtak coming loose from the bed and now waiting for a replacement. I will resume shortly after the holidays. Happy New Year.

Thanks for the update. Happy New Year!
Re: 1/4 scale Lotus 49 Jim Clark version
Hey folks, received my large printer and printed a few things for my cousins Daughter. Before I try the Lotus 49 body I want to see if I can hollow out the body without the inner so I can wrap the shell around future chassis. Anyway, here are a few photos of the printers capability. It prints very nice details.

The new printer does a wonderful job. Can't wait to see how it performs on the Lotus body shell.

Hi Anthony;
I used the Creality CR 10S pro V2 but I wouldn't recommend it, I would think that after 4 creality printers and one that got an upgrade "V2" things would be better, it seems that after a few hours of prints the printers get wonky and frustrating to calibrate, but that's my experience, so I returned them. I'm going back with the PRUSA i3 MK3S and the larger PRUSA when it's released. The PRUSA printer I highly recommend if you don't need large, just have to cut your prints in sections sometimes.
