Got some EBAY goodies , I must have 30 of the old disposable style racing wheels, all are a mess. I came across these and had to pick them up.. this will be perfect for the asphalt sprint

steve g:

The black paint finish on the bodywork provides the perfect background to highlight the red frame and aluminum / chromed components!

steve g: I like the knock-off wheel hubs! Got off track is what I've done too, I'm still playing at Saabs while the weather is good. Finishing the roll cage for the '55 Chevy is now a rainy day and winter activity. I also need to work on my model boats to make them ready for next summer, I've been staying away from the boat pond during the worldwide health crisis we've been in (still in). In accordance with local health rules, our model boat club has had to limit the numbers of members running boats at the pond. We're lucky to have the use of the pond, and don't want anyone to report us for not following the local health rules. Also a few people love to hate us because our boat engines make some noise; these are 'do gooders' who would be happy to shut us down.

I know what you mean..... I live in California where almost everything is banned or on the chopping block... it seems the only hobby that’s allowed is taking selfie’s and posting it on social media.. I feel sorry for the younger generations that are being denied the right to have real fun in life.
I am buried in 1/4 scale cars right now because I had lung surgery (not covid related) in March and had to basically sit at home for 2 months waiting to recover.. all I could do is hunt for treasure on the internet... now I got to finish all these projects.. But it’s a fun hobby that keeps me busy on the weekends and evenings.

steve g:

I hope your recovery from surgery is going well.

Not to harp on about what we can't do, but what gets my goat is the almost total disregard (in Toronto) for the noise made by modified cars and motorcycles, cars in particular. Meanwhile, start up a 1/4 scale car, which is basically a lawnmower, and everyone goes ape!

Buried in 1/4 scale cars here too. Yesterday I boxed up another one to put into storage.

So back to the wingless sprint ..... Coming along......the front axle has modified Delara spindle/knuckle assemblies, the axle is unknown, the hubs are knockoff skellenger, the rear is rc/4wd with a an unknown jacobs ladder and custom made bearing carriers. I’m not sure what brand the torsion arms are but i was able to reverse the left side to get the tire tight against the frame... still working out the bugs but I’m happy so far

So it seemed awkwardly long and the front axle too wide.... I narrowed the front axle and cut 2” out of the frame...
