It's 15" and change, so a 16 hunk would be perfect.

Many thanks to Mike Ogle, as today my mail man brought me some lexan, and some special decals for my car.

I knew from the start I was going to do a Joe Amato car, but I could not decide which one I wanted to do. My original plan was the 1984 car, but after seeing the body, I am going to go with the 1988/1989 car. I believe this is more along the lines of what the car was made to look like. Also, the Valvoline car has been done several times over.

Why Joe Amato??

We have been family friends since 1985. All the way until he retired, he always made sure we had tickets to the races we wanted to go to. To this day his first wife Gere talks to my mom every week, and she also sends all of us Christmas cards and Birthday cards. One of the nicest people one could ever meet.

The car I am going to do:

Here are just a few photos/posters I have from Joe and Gere.

Taken just outside the winners circle in Brainerd, MN 1988.
Joe, Gere, my sister Corinne, and me.

Poster they sent us for Christmas in 1985

Very Rare poster that includes Joe's 1985 Nitro Funny Car that ran only a few IHRA events. It never ran NHRA. One of the best looking FC's ever.

Huge X-Ray poster from 1987.

Winners Circle photo from Reading, PA 1999. This was Joes first time winning at his home track after almost 20 years of trying.

Thanks!!

I've been laid off, so the work has sort of stopped for now, but hopefully I'll get back to work on it soon. I plan to paint it as soon as it's warm enough.

Which, in Minnesota, would be right after the Fourth of July.

LOL!!!

I know, I know...

One time I was in Minnesota at night outside by one of the 10,000 lakes, and I heard some voices buzzing above my head... it was a pair of Minnesota MOSQUITOS plotting their strategy...

"You think we should eat him here, or take him WITH us?"

"We better eat him here, otherwise the BIG mosquitos will take him away from us."

How about drag racing on a frozen lake.
Spiked tires and engine warmers. 8)
Cold air is dense air, dense air makes more horse power! Just one of those thoughts.

Man, if you didn't already have a good reason to go with an Amato paint scheme, it'd sure be fun to fabricate some wheel pants and build one like this:

Did the psychedelic paint job! Super 70's!!!!
