Where do i start??

Hi all, i am so glad i found this site.
I have been into rc since i was 14. my first car was a tamiya hotshot 4wd with electronic speed controller and the "Black" motor (God they were fast back then, they could do 40Km/h).
since then i have broken about 4 other models doing stupid stuff.
I have always loved the monster trucks and have my eye on a Losi lst 1/8 which I thoroughly can't afford.
A couple of years ago I returned to uni to study manufacturing/ mechanical engineering and i would much rather spend a bunch more money and time designing and building my own RC monster truck. I have loved the idea of 1/4 scale ever since i saw an article in a magazine about 10+ years ago.
My main problem is I have no idea where to start and so need to get as much info and facts as i can.
I am just into second year of my course and am hoping to use some of this for my Thesis etc. I am particularly interested in gearboxes and suspension.

welcome aboard.

Check out the QRS section and look at their MT's. Gearbox wise, there is not much, just a transfer case for the most part.
