Re: Steel "41 Willys
Thanks Emilio. I made the centers from 1.875 expansion plugs that I welded a flange on. I'm having fun with this so I made a better pattern and will cast them again to use up my cores.

Re: Steel "41 Willys
I machined the calipers, then started on rotors. This was an experiment to see if I could cast iron rotors with a steel center. These are the first two, they have flaws, but after annealing I was able to machine to rough shape. The final surfacing will need to be done mounted. In the background are ...

Re: Steel "41 Willys
metal working is very another class in car models... very impressive, don't want to paint it to hide this beautiful work! Thanks eightman, that seems to be the consensus at the shows. Leave it in metal, maybe a clearcoat. Some of the latest attempts. I originally copied the Ford 9", but since ...

Time flies when your busy. This is the last couple months of progress. IMG_20190703_175702.jpg IMG_20190706_193429.jpg IMG_20190725_180043.jpg IMG_20190731_200139.jpg IMG_20190806_122217.jpg Then I started on the engine machining to see if I will be able to fit the hood. IMG_20190822_111149.jpg

Re: Steel "41 Willys
Thanks guys. but reviewing some of Emilio's video finds humbles me. There is some amazing modeling being done in 1/4 scale. I did cast the die for the rear windows and was able to move the poorer bead rolled frame to a better position on my test piece. Lots of hammer work and almost wore it out, but...

Re: Steel "41 Willys
Started some bead roller work on the trunk lip and started using clecos to hold it to shape. There is still bead roller work on the sides that needs to be done before I can weld them together. The rear window is a test of the bead roller setup, but I have decided to make a punch and die so they will...

Re: Steel "41 Willys
Sorry Emilio, I don't have any experience at making video or posting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0KtL2hotCY shows the cast iron engine at the GoodGuys nationals in Pleasanton, but I didn't record it or post it.

Re: Steel "41 Willys
It is 1/3 scale and creates the issue with the engine in that a 6/71 cannot be used with an HE distributor because of clearance. Smaller diameter points unit or a mag will be required.

Re: Steel "41 Willys
Thanks guys, I think it will be a fun project. I mocked up the buck with the aluminum V8 block and blower. The scale difference is starting to show and will require a couple of modifications. I expect I'll have to pour a low profile manifold to lower the blower so it won't look so top heavy. I thoug...

Steel "41 Willys
I started on a "41 Willys in 1/4 scale as a vehicle to show the 1/3 scale smallblock I built. The first engine I put together was poured in cast iron. I have an aluminum in the works which will have a blower and this will be the car for it. This is the start of the buck. I built an english whee...

Re: Lots of parts on Ebay right now!!!
Mike I asked a question on the e-bay site for the diameter of the tires. I'm building a quarter scale '41 Willys in steel to show my 1/3 scale smallblock. The available 9" slicks seem too large even in a pro street setup, so I'm looking at something between that and 7.25".

Re: Lots of parts on Ebay right now!!!
Hi Mike, I just found this site and have asked a question on the e-bay site. I'm building a quarter scale '41 willys in steel to show my 1/3 scale smallblock. I had always planned to make tires and rims, but discovered this site and had hoped to find tires about in the 7.5" size for a pro stree...
