BTW, I wanted to buy this truck so that I could see how they are built because I plan on building a few older cars in the future for people to buy without having to pay an arm and a leg to have it. That goes for the monster truck as well. If I ever get a break to buy either one.

I also wanted the truck and had some correspondence. Lucky for me did not get to go any further it seems. Anybody know who actually got it in the end? Things like this come and go, you never know when, but the next one will be along. Hang in there. Ultimately the owner/keeper/seller has the right to do what they want....blame it on the ebay type culture that is developing in society....not too many genuine hand shake deals and straight up people about anymore it would seem.

Big Trev, you got that right, If I told someone I wanted $100.00 and someone offered me $200.00 an hour later guess what? They missed there chance, I made a deal for a $100 and a deal is a deal. It should be more important to a man than getting more money.

I agree with you both on that! I hate when you see somthing for a price and email a few questions about it only to get a toatly different price in return, then they also happen to tell you it is no longer being sold

big maestro,
No applogies needed my freind. I understand. I think we might be the same age or close to it. I have been in search sinse the late 80s as well, and it just so happens to be I was in High Schoool to :D I remember seeing it an R/C mag to, in fact, I may still have it. I'm going to take a trip to my mothers and grab my stash of mags. I think I have about 3 years of RCCA.
We also have the same intensions to. Not only wanting it for my own use but, wanting to build them as well to share the wealth.
In do time my freinds, keep your heads up.
Take care fellas.

Well I'm glad there is no hard feelings. If in the event I find one I will share it. I am having a shop built in a few weeks. When it's up I am buying a mill and lathe and hopfully will learn how to make most of what I need. I already have the tig and all the benders to build chassis' with. I will have one one way or another eventually. Then I can hopefully help others with the same intrests. I have spoken with a person about some custom parts for this application as well. I can't wait to start working with him on some things.

BTW, If you happen to have the Oct. 89 and feb. 90 issue would you be interested in selling them to me? I am going to be restoring a New Era Super modified in the near future and they covered that car in one of those issues. I need some pics and info on the car.

I just want to thank you all for understanding and feeling my pain. some people will never understand that
"money does NOT make a man
a man makes the money"
big, I want to get a lathe and mill too and learn to make my own parts. but what are going to do about the rears?
Does anyone know a machine that is sort of a 2 in one, being a lathe and mill which can be used to make anything and not cost 20k. I also want to learn how to weld metal and aluminum. is there a 2 in one welding machine? any help would be greatly appreciated
Please post make and models
Thanks

I have the one with the super mod. I need to scan it for people on here to see. I will try to do it soon.
You can get a two in one machine at harbor freight for about $600. I have a harbor freight Mini Mill and Mini lathe. I converted the mill to CNC for about $700. These machines are not ultra accurate and require tuning. For our parts though they are fine. You can even tweak them even further with ball screws to make them really accurate and fast for cheap.
You should be able to get a wire feed mig welder that will do both steel and aluminum.

The machine I am getting is made by grizzly. I talked to a couple people with them and they are completely satisfied. It is a medium size machine. It is 1195 and it's a combo lathe and mill. If I can remember where I put the site and page with the machine on it I will post it later. I have to drive to NC in about 20 min. so I will be gone most of tonight but I will find it and post it tonight or tomorrow.
Tha welder I have is a ESAB multimaster 260. I built a bunch of kit car frames so I needed a big welder. Great thing about this welder is it will weld aluminum, stainless and carbon steel. It is also equipped to Mig, Stick, Tig and spoolgun weld. All in the same machine just switch regualators and flip a swith and you can weld one of the four. It was around 2800.00 when I bought it 2 years ago, but it is a great machine. A small self contained tig rig will cost almost half that.

The grizzley and Homier machines are built by the same people that make the harbor freight ones. They are all pretty good and for sure good enough to do what we want.
I converted to CNC so I could replicate parts easier..... and because it sounded cool. But to be honest I usually hand move it or use the Jog function on the keyboard..... but again..... it looks cool :D
