My Baja transforming into an Escort:





37,7cc engine fitted and all mods and tune-ups done to it. First pipe for this engine size done. Next a rollbar, bottom plate and bodymounts.

what engine are you using 37.7cc,do not know this engine

It is originally an FS 35cc engine that is stroked, lightened, ported, reeded and tuned heavily by me. Not a commercial engine as it is now but a custom one-off.

I am after +12hp with this engine and the pipe I designed and fabricated which you see in the pics. Previous 30,5 that I did with a custom pipe was 9,3hp and 5,5Nm. Sold that one. Then I made one more that just barely missed 10hp. That one is also a 30,5cc.

Then I moved to bigger volume engines and am going to the dyno again with this engine.

got the same engine on my hotrod,but is standard,did buy it on ebay,did not cost to much.
the only thing is that the exhaust port is much bigger,than the zenoah
did not run it yet

I don't know whether it is a good engine or not. From what I've read from the net it is willing to pick up high rpms and some have said it to be durable as well.

When I fitted the lighter smaller radius, stuffed and stroked crank and crankcase inserts to get the case volume down also I noticed that casting finish is not as good as a Zen or CY but piston was of good visible quality and the cylinder hardening seemed to be even deeper as in the usual smaller cylinders. I'm hoping to get good hours out of this engine but cannot yet tell anything for sure about it.

the tuner in holland can not get over 7 hp,out off a 26 cc

Jari: If this Escort body shell was available in vacuum formed polycarbonate (Lexan) it would truly transform the HPI Baja world for quite a few rally enthusiasts. Have you thought about doing this / in cooperation with others?

He's right, it would probably be a very good-selling product. You could offer them on EBay, even.

There's nothing like that for HPI Baja owners on the market right now, and they're LOOKING for other body options.

I know that... I will give it some more thought and talk with Jani. Actually there wasn't that much interest on HBF for this body...

i am looking for THE good idea for my lexan baja body project... available there is a cox, the truck and clones of it, the hot rod rat, don't know yet...
