Hey folks, got my new printer and started printing the remainder of the lotus 49 body. I've decided to make this a running car opposed to a static. I have some good ideas on how to tie it all together. Updates soon for the folks who are interested. Hope you enjoy :)

Did some more mock ups today. The plan is to make a semi chassis for the front attached to a metal bulkhead made from my template to hold all the front end components, the rear will have also a metal bulkhead to support the engine and rear. The windshield will have mirrors attached and rivets holding the windshield in place. The body will also have rivets all around strategically placed. When all joined together I will sand, prime, paint and decal. Still a lot of work to be done but it's getting there slowly. Hope you enjoy. :)

Hey folks, just throwing it out there. I am very happy to see that the L-49 I'm building seems to be correct with the 1/12 scale model kits on the market as far as body dimensions. I'm following this model builder who is building the same car in 1/12 scale and using his detail ideas on the dash, gauges and basically all the interior work and rivet placement on the panels. Just a silly update.

I started on the detail of the interior, made the seat which will have leather added to it and the dash with gauges. I will add the instrument decals to the gauges similar to the completed dash in the photo. I also added the fuel inlet adapter. Hope you enjoy :)

Started on the dash detail, how I had to do this was to download an image of the real Lotus 49 dash, print, cut to fit then paint all the detail in the gauges. Couldn't find any decals that would do the job. After I'm satisfied I will add transparent plastic as glass.Still have to do a little clean up. Soon I will start on the metal parts for the rear of the car. Hope you enjoy.

I didn't like the paper gauges I made as they looked to faded so I painted my own gauges onto the dash, I wanted that vintage Omega speed-master look. :)

Hey folks need to ask for your help on helm joint and rod sizes. The first 3 photos are a set of standard helm joint and rod which is to big for I need. The last 2 photos are of the helm joint and rod that Jan Gimer used on his midget steering rod and are significantly smaller in size, compare the photos. I haven't a clue where or how to find these? Thanks for your help.

Hey folks, just a mini update as to not let the thread go stale for the folks who are interested in the project, and I thank you. I cut out the rear bulkhead (lack of better words) from metal sheet. The plan is to weld the brackets that will hold the torsion bars that will mount the quick change rear axle, after that is done I will drill the holes and weld nuts flush into the bulkhead to fasten the engine. When complete, I will rivet the bulkhead to the rear of the car along with metal to plastic bond gel, this bulkhead will never come apart. I've included a photo of a model that I'm using for reference to show how the brackets will look. I ordered the heim joints which are on the way and I will have to make my own rods cut to length and threaded. Hope you enjoy :)
