i dont think rick would have done that. He did not make these himself. He had see's make them for him. I have never seen another set like that. Someone could have done that with a lathe. I am not sure why.

here is how they offered different sizes and offsets. They state they are 3 piece wheels, not 4 piece.

More than likely that rim half was to deep so they cut a section out to narrow the barrel. They machined back to have the lip so it would center itself. You can see they had some type of adhesive on it at some point. Like stated earlier once It's glued to a tire its not going anywhere.

Hi FoNk,
I wanted to weigh in earlier on this topic but couldn't seem to be able to log-in. Fortunately Mike stepped in and corrected the issues for me. Anyway, in answer to your question, no i never modified my wheels in the way that you mentioned in your post. It looks like someone just got a little creative, probably because the size of wheel halves that he needed just weren't available. It appears that you've resolved the situation especially since the car that you're putting the wheels on is going to be a static model. I wish that I could help you out with a new set of "correct" wheel halves, but there just aren't any left. I personally have one complete set of each style that i made, but that's it.
Good luck with your projects. I'm anxious to see the finished cars.
Best Regards, Rick (Rick's R/C)

Hi DTW,
Thanks for the response. I actually do have a lot of pictures of some of the different cars that I've been fortunate enough to be a part of over the years. There are some very talented and creative people out there and I consider myself lucky to have been around in the beginning of 1/4 scale racing. Not only that, but also to be in the same area as many of the greats in the sport. It was an exciting time and I was caught up in it completely. It's all that I thought about after being exposed to 1/4 scale cars for the first time. Actually I am still passionate about the sport and am actually seriously considering getting back into it, if for no other reason than to revive it.
Anyway, I'll give some thought to creating a Bio about my company (back in the day).
Thanks for your kind words.
Best, Rick

Thanks Iggmon.
As I said before, the pleasure was (and is) all mine. I enjoyed every minute of my involvement in the sport. The real legends (Jon Rahe, Lance Love, Gary Delara, Jeff Schmidt, Clark Adams and all the rest) were all great guys and a pleasure to be around. They all inspired me to get involved and I'm so grateful for it. It was a blast.
Though we often speak of the past, let's not forget the future. Quarter Scale Motorsports is hardly dead, just resting. I believe that the sport still has it's best days ahead and talented people like yourself and all the other still involved will take it to that next level. You all ARE the future. Stay creative and innovative. Keep motivated and I think that we'll all be amazed at what this sport still has to offer.
Best to all, Rick
