I am the owner of the SOHC Conley V8 that I listed For Sale on eBay.
This rare engine was originally purchased by The Glenn Reid Collection of Mechanical Models museum in 2001. And was on display there till May of 2014. From what I can tell it has never been started unless Gary Conley test fired it before it was sold.
From the information I have found on this engine. They originally sold for $5,300.00. The running/display stands sold for $2,500.00. Making the original price somewhere around $7,800.00. I have a bit more than that invested in this rare piece of 1/4 scale history.
I have it listed on eBay with a "Buy it Now" price of $10,750.00. The sale has the option for people to make me offers so don't get freaked out by my "Buy it Now" price.
This is definitely a piece for the serious collector, not someone who wants to put it in something so they can do donuts in their yard.
In one way I was slightly disappointed to find out that most likely it has never been started as I really wanted to hear it run. In another I am glad that it is in brand new condition as that just adds more to it's value as it might be next to impossible not only to find one of these yet find one that is basically brand new!
I am not going to let it go for any less than what I have invested in it.
I added a automatic rejection below a set $$ amount for low-ball offers as several offers came in right away for $1,200.00. Really? Guess it never hurts to ask.
I also have a Conley powered WCM 34 Ford that I might be selling? That Conley is a 1998 vintage and it appears to be one of the 3rd generation models with the billet block. It has the space open under the lifter gallery and is referred to as one of "The Dirty" versions. It has a rare 8 carburetor intake that makes it look like it has injector stacks. It looks great in the 34, but I think it would look even better in a sprint car because of the injector stack look.
So at this point I am not sure if I will sell the 34 with or without the Conley. Might just wait and see what happens with the 4th generation SOHC on the running/display stand.
Should you have any questions, please ask.
Thanks, Bill

Thanks for all of the questions.
The Conley SOHC sold in less than a week on eBay. The WCM 34 Ford with the Conley has also has sold to someone who found my post on this site. I am 99% sure the deal will go through on the 34. BUT if for some reason it does not, I will update the information here before listing it on eBay as I do what I can to avoid the 9% final value fee on eBay.
When I get a chance I will post some photos here.
Thank you to everyone who contacted me!
Bill
