Hi all
I have been interested in 1/4 scale foe years but only just rekindled the interest. I want to design and build a 1/4 monster truck/ Truggy AS this is a fun way to apply my current studies in engineering. Being that i am contemplating a ground up design and build, I have been trying to get as much info as possible. I would greatly appreciate any input.

1. Dimensions: Is there a "standard" size or range of sizes for the chassis such as wheel base length etc or do these vary according to the individual cars being modeled?

2. gearing: Is there a common diff ratio used for the gear and pinion (Not the quick change gears) I am thinking I will do a 3:1 as this is a very middle of the road car diff ratio.

3. rc gear: i know I will need a channel for accelerator/Brake, steering, gears. I count 3 is there anything I am missing? what is a good brand of control gear to go for?

4. designing: I am starting by CAD-ing up a matchbox 4wd for the body. they are 1:64 scale so I can create an accurate body off this. Is this a smart way to do it or should I do the frame and design the body around it?

That will do for now. Thanks for your time.
Steve

Id pick an engine elec/ petrol take it then measure it and add the rear drive you are using then build around the 2 of them.
