Calling all 1/4 scale drag racers.
This section has been dead long enough. Its time to get something going on around here. What do you have, what are you building. If it is ugly, who cares . My pics will go up tomarrow. Lets get something going here. Roger.

Re: Calling all 1/4 scale drag racers.
Roger good call, I just hate the thought that QSL site is only for collectors, there are some guys on here that also love to run these animals.
Being we are the only guys running quarter scale cars on a legit 1/4 scale track, I needed to get something set up for the 132 foot tracks most of the other guys run on.
So here is (1) of 2 cars that I will dabble with on both tracks (132 and the 330).
Nothing special, simple and FAST is what I like.

Get those running 1/4 scale cars up and lets see what you got!

Re: Calling all 1/4 scale drag racers.
Progress!!
Fired it up today and did a little run down the street with no body. I need to tweak on the carb screws a little bit but not too bad.
It's almost done. Just need to finish the exhaust, wheelie bar, and chutes.
I'm going to wait 'till the car is done and driving good before I start on the body. I just did some quick decals for now.
I will have video up soon.

Very nice Bryant, yours looks like a 54 solo with a pull start, very nice!Bryant wrote:Hey guys both of your funny cars are very nice. What size engines are you all running?
Like paul, mine is also the 34cc TMR (Petco) , most of our guys are also running 54's and 1 with a 72cc funny.
I will fool with this for a while, but I do have some different motors in mind for the future.

Pete,
I am going to save a place on the line beside me at the race in Rockingham just for you. Bring it on down. I like to see you race 132'.

Floyd that is very kind of you, thank you!fvick1121 wrote:Pete,

But I must say, I just can't see getting excited over running such a short distance, low MPH and ET.
Don't think our cars come off the line soft, I am speaking more so with our dragsters cause this will be the first year in a long time we have some funny cars and prostocks going.
But I can guarantee without touching any of those dragsters that are setup for 330, they would lay down a sick number only your nitro cars are used too and these are no pan cars that weigh 20 some odd pounds, full chassis cars.
IMO I kinda like the pan cars, But I think the price is way over my head for it.
Anyway I'm not talking about MPH, there ET's range between 3.86 to 4.2's in 330 feet, so making the change to a smaller track would only be because of the way it's organized, I understand not being able to run a scaled track.
The problem is the land, it's expensive and not everyone can afford a piece of property capable of 600+ feet unless renting your local drag track to hold events like they did years ago.
So if buying or renting the needed space is unavailable, only thing you can do is run on an existing track, in this case a 10th scale 132 foot track and setup the cars accordingly.
In my opinion only, I think what you guys are doing with the 10th scales are great for the hobby and I hope it gets even better, but after running these cars on the scaled track at 98mph in 4 seconds it's hard to scale down and get excited about a 2.5 second pass at 50mph.
Again, I am a diehard drag racer, I love the organization of your events, the competitiveness amongst your clubs and for those reasons only I wouldn't mind driving a few hundred miles to have fun.
But it's no comparison to the skill level needed to hang with these local guys I run with, thats for sure.
So with that said, please keep the lane warm for me, I will make my way there soon!
Thanks again!
Pete

You guys should save the low smack-talk for the track.
If "juiced" brings his electric q-scale funny car to the track, we're ALL toast.
Running 132 is okay, I really liked running 165 feet in California (Q-scale 1/8 mile) as it was a little more time in the throttle.

Re: Calling all 1/4 scale drag racers.
I didn't see any smack talk here, Floyd is a good guy and I respect him for that alone, actually I hate the guys down at the track that smack talk, there usually the first guys eliminated.
Now running 165 is MUCH better if you ask me, but still I cannot see the point of racing an 8 foot dragster on that track either, but funny's and prostock would be cool.
Hurry up ED get your track together! We need to run some events.
Also I forgot 1 major point, we run on a unprepared track, actually it's pretty dusty at times, although we blow the track clean in between rounds, we are still putting up those numbers.
If we can run on an actual prepared surface, those numbers would be 3/10th better as well as some extra broken parts, but who cares!
We have a member on RCBO that runs RC events at a drag strip in PA, if we were able to get enough guys to show to enter in a race event, I think that would be tremendous for the hobby, just like it was years ago.

Re: Calling all 1/4 scale drag racers.
If the track was prepared and we could race 165' count me in. I say the 50 MPH is a thing of the past, we want to run a lot faster than that. You bring that Funny car to Rockingham and get the surprise of your life.
