The first item that will be showing up on the auction block is a 427 Conley powered Funny Car. Unlike some of the "427" Conleys that have been showing up on ebay, this is the real deal. There is a big difference in design between the first generation Conley and the 427. An easy way to spot the older Conley is that it has a large open area right under the intake manifold. Yes dirt can get right into the cam/lifter area should you drive one of these around. There is no gap between the intake and the block on a 427 and the 427 is a full roller bearing engine with a much stronger lower end.
There are a few photos of this Funny Car posted on this web site. Take a look under the Pacesetter section. The frame is red and the valve covers are black with the name Conley on the covers. The body is black and it says "The Collector" on the side.
Right now I am putting the Conley back together after a good internal cleaning and inspection. As of today 12/3/09 it will be a few weeks till I get the time to put it all back together...holidays and all that...but I want to give my friends on this site a "heads up" that this rare gem is for sale and I am open to offers. Sorry no trades as I am loaded way down with 1/4 scale goodies.
The car came to me exactly the way it is shown in the photos. It has the roadster style headers on it but I do have the kit to make the Zoomie headers and I want to have them on the car before it hits eBay around the beginning of next year.
My goal here is just to offer a heads up on the items I will be selling before they hit eBay.
Happy Holidays! Bill
