When you find one I am sure you will be happy. They are a very nice car. I do have replacements for them too, but its real limited because I collect this stuff. I bought out the last of the RACO indy car inventory and I have been trying to piece 13 cars together with what I got. What am I going to do with 13 cars you ask......Ummmmmm dont know, but it sure would be cool! It will probably be many years before I can complete them because I only have about 60% or so of the stuff required to build one.

Raco Indy Car

Post by p986driver »

Hi F1, I have a Raco Indy Car that I bought new and I think I am ready to sell it (I will probably regret it) . The engine has never been started and the protective paper is still on the winglets. I also have a set of Italian pneumatic tires with aluminum rims for the car. And, I have a hydraulic brake kit for the front wheels. I machined one stainless axle and installled the ball bearings in the uprights. Stll needs the second axle and either new front hubs or a very easy mod to the originals--see the racoeuro site for details. I did paint the nose with Ferrari red paint just to see how it would look. I have no idea what a fair price would be, but if u are interested I'm sure we can work something out.
As for the Race Tech info, when that car first came out I really wanted one so I drove to Leesburg to try and see it. When I got to the address it was just a house on a side street with nobody home. It was not a shop.
Also, I may sell my Pacesetter Funny Car. Just no interest in this area and no fun to be the only one around interested.---Jack

Raco Indy Car

Post by p986driver »

Hi again, F1. I forgot to mention in my earlier response to you that my Raco Indy car also has the q/s servos installed along with a servo saver and an electronic fail safe. It does not have a radio, however. The radio I had for it was not suitable for quarter scale. It is an am 2 channel and better suited to electric cars.

I just purchased a race-tech indy car the other day. It's a little ruff but I am going to go through the entire car and redo everything. I was looking on the qsac site at some old pics of the super 8 nats. The car I have looks just like the dominos pizza car in the photo. The stickers are all the same and in the same location. I hope to find the actual photo in an old mag to see if its the same car. That would be interesting.

I have one of those cars. I think the design is pretty bad, but its still a really cool car. Really hard to find too. Send me pics. Do you have any paperwork for it? I have some, including the manual, price lists and also the magazine article.

Yea, the design is horrible. I bought it because of the rarity. Like I said in my post the cool part is I am 99 % sure it's the car in the mag from way back when. I did'nt get paper work for it. I will post a pic of it tomorrow. I got two bodies with it. The domino's body is kinda nasty but the penzoil one is'nt to bad other than the rear wing. still a neat car. Mine does look a little different than the one you have. The rear susp. has a single lower front trailing arm with a hiem joint link in the rear. also the nose bars are a little differnt, they could have been replaced.

You did not happen to get a extra rear or front wing did you? Also, how did you find the car and did that person have a story for it?
I cant wait to see these pictures.

Looks good to me. Post some pics with the body off. I am real interested about the rear suspension. I was reading some of the info on the cars and it looks like they originaly planned on doing it that way. So it sounds like you have a older car.
