Driveshaft options

Post by dwayne »

Hi everyone - need some help with what options exist for driveshaft on a 1/4 RC stockcar Ive built.

We've made a homemade QC for it and bolted in a firewall and motor etc. I have about 200mm (around 7") distance between the input shaft on the QC and the clutch endbell. Driveshaft will need universals at both ends and some form of telescoping shaft.

Running a 29cc Baja clone motor so needs to handle rotation speeds etc.

So what do others use? I looked at Punisher shafts but dont think they will be beefy enough? Just about exhausted my internet bandwith on searching and the only options ive seen from beldon etc look expensive as they are custom jobs...Appreciate any help or comments...

If anyone has any thoughts on best way to manufacture your own id appreciate your comments.

Hoping to put a mechanical brake on the endbell as well to provide some breaks..Any advice or tips on this would be appreciated as well. Car will weigh close to 30 KGS (66lbs) by the time its finished so need to stop it...

many thanks

Dwayne...I always check these sources for odd parts and pieces...I don't know if they're going to have EXACTLY what you need, but maybe something could be assembled or modified to work:

Stock Drive Products:
https://sdp-si.com/eStore/

The Robot Marketplace:
http://www.robotcombat.com/store.html

McMaster Carr Supply:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#

Quality Transmission Components:
http://www.qtcgears.com/

Hope this helps!
