I would tend to also see what others are running in your area to help with setup. I bought a used WCM and it seems everyone was moving to Lightnings. No wonder I got a good deal:)
But still enough to help get setup.

Actually you may want to keep the offer Chiefj48 has made in mind. I don't know him, but have seen him on other forums and I know you will be treated right. And I know you were not referring to him, as I too was concerned buying a car used from anyone. I ended up buying one local and even it had some parts that while provided no clear advantage, were not QSAC legal.
The reason I say this, is when I wanted to buy a car (and wanted it now), there is generally a long waiting list. For all the mfg's at the time it was 6 months. Not sure about lightning's but you might want to check. For me, I don't like waiting, when I decide I want something the money starts burning through my pockets:) I could not find a WCM or lightning frame to save my life... Finally found one WCM Cage car chassis, but didn't want to learn how to assemble a car from scratch just to start racing.
Also, just a straight frame, not even a roller as in the $800-1200 range. A complete car/w engine for $1300 has even got my eye on it:)

WAY to much money for a car that has not proved to be worthy yet ,,,,It has not seen any QSAC events ,,The guy that builds it is a great guy and racer tho , A new wcm roll cage car is 1450.00 ,I have been doing this for awhile ,and racing WCM with great results ,,As one of the posts earlier , Race what the guys at your track is racin ,,for help unless you are an expert at setup ,, and ,,, or,,,have a ton of parts ,,that fit your car ,,, These car's after a wall hit or rub do break, unfortunately these car are not as strong as the smaller 10th scale cars,, Hope this helps ,,,not tryin to chase you away, Robert

After alot of research and talking with guys at the track I decided a Lightning based chassis is going to be better for me. I will be racing at Freddies and most of the guys run Lightnings Rockits and Freddies new car[lightning]. This newby will need help. So it makes no since to buy some chassis noone is familiar with. Thanks for all of the repies LBJ!!!!
